East Surrey Bowls League - Triples League Rules

GUIDELINES AND RULES FOR SEASON 2025 OF THE ESL WEEKDAY TRIPLES LEAGUE.

The twelve clubs covered by these guidelines as published on the ESL Website are:

CHEAM FIELD, PURLEY, PURLEY BURY, CMO, OLD COULSDON, SHIRLEY PARK, EPSOM, EPSOM PARK, CHIPSTEAD, HORLEY, ASHTEAD and WARLINGHAM.

The changes from the 2024 rules below are as a result of the Covid style AGM held thru October 2024.

In season 2025 each Triple will be allowed a maximum of one County Badged player. In extreme circumstances and on only two occasions during the season an extra County Badged player will be allowed to play, to allow a match to be played in the original format for this league. Penalty for playing a fourth County Badged player is a 9 shot reduction from the culpable Triple with 2 County Badged players.

The playing format will be covered by the normal BOWLS ENGLAND Rules and Regulations, with one special ESL rule (printed below) to be applied should a club who on match day finds themselves a player short.

The club with only 2 out of the 3 players normally needed in Triples play on a rink would forfeit the number 2 position players 3 woods with no further penalty.

LEAGUE PLAYING FORMAT:        3 x TRIPLES  (18 ends)   plus Trial ends if required.

LEAGUE MATCH POINTS:            2 points available on each rink to the winner and 4 for the combined shots overall winner.

All games will be played in a clubs registered playing clothing (All players in a team MUST play in the same-coloured outfit.) Refreshments, if supplied, will be Tea and Biscuits at NO CHARGE, sales from the Bar will be charged. No match fees will be charged to the visiting club.

All other details in arranging a fixture must be by mutual agreement. The date and venue must be within the published week as per the ESL website unless permission granted by ESL Webmaster or Chairman.

A.S.A.P. after the game has been played BOTH clubs should email the result to League Webmaster Alan Huxtable within 24 hours of the completed match.
